Swachh Survekshan (2021): Waste Segregation

The essence of the Swachh Bharat Mission revolves around positive messaging towards swachhata (cleanliness). To usher in the sixth year of the mission, we created TVCs and radio spots to raise awareness on the importance of swachhata and roped in celebrities Anil Kapoor and Shilpa Shetty. The aim of the campaign was to educate the masses about Swachh Survekshan and motivate citizens to participate in the citizen feedback survey. 

We highlighted topics such as segregation of hazardous waste, how to locate SBM toilets on Google Maps, saying no to single-use plastics, the concept of 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), home composting, how to use the Swachhata App, and more. We also put the spotlight on the need for behavioural changes in the context of healthy sanitation, and the message that sanitation is central to public health.

The communication of the campaign culminated in a participation call towards 2021’s Swachh Survekshan, encouraging people’s efforts in creating a trash-free environment.
